KATARZYNA KOWALIK   harpsichord / organ

Katarzyna Kowalik is a London based harpsichordist and early keyboard specialist performing actively as a soloist and with many period ensembles.

 

Katarzyna completed her Master Degree in Historical Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (MPerf 2012) with Carole Cerasi, James Johnstone and Nicholas Parle, obtaining The City of London Corporation Award (2011) and Guildhall School Trust Award (2010). She was also awarded a prestigious Guildhall Artist Fellowship twice (2012, 2013). She also graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw with Master Degrees in Piano and Harpsichord.

 

Katarzyna mastered her skills in the Piccola Accademia in Montisi studying with Christophe Rousset (2012) and Skip Sempé (2015, as part of the Early Music Festival in Utrecht) as well as in the Académie Musicale Villecroze with Ilton Wjuniski. She also participated in the Academy of Ancient Music AAMplify side- by-side workshops.

 

Katarzyna performed in many prestigious concert venues in London such us: Barbican Centre, Foundling Museum, Handel House, Milton Court, Museum of London, Southwark Cathedral, St Martin in the Fields, Spitalfields, St George’s Hanover Square, Stationers’ Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Wallace Collection. Katarzyna performed also around Poland and United Kingdom as well as in Germany, France, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, and North Korea.

 

She played with many groups and orchestras such as Albion Baroque Orchestra, Amadè Players, Brandenburg Baroque Soloists, Brandenburg Sinfonia, Double Entendre, Fiori Musicali, Literary Music, London Concertante, London Musical Arts Orchestra, Music for Awhile, La Serenissima, Opera Lyrica. Katarzyna has been also involved in the educational projects organised by Classical Opera.

 

She is a director of the Royal Baroque ensemble, highly commended in the final of the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition (2015). In 2015 Katarzyna was a participant of the Handel House Talent - a scheme to further the career development of promising young professional baroque music performers. She also won a Basso Continuo Prize at the ‘Gianni Gambi’ Competition in Pesaro (Italy).

 

Katarzyna is currently a harpsichord and basso continuo teacher at Morley College in London.
